What is a PSL rating?
PSL is short for PUAhate, SlutHate and Lookism, the names of three online forums where this rating scale first took shape. In looksmaxxing today the letters are only a label: a PSL rating is a score from 0 to 8 for how attractive a face looks, with 4 as average. You will also see it called the PSL scale or the PSL rating scale.
It is an informal community scale, not a scientific measurement. People use a PSL rating to compare faces against a shared chart. Each site works out its PSL rating in its own way, so the sections below show how this PSL rating is made.

Summary
This photo reads a PSL of 5.3 out of 8 (Chadlite), with Features as the strongest category at 9.3 out of 10, and face width-to-height ratio (fWHR) has the most headroom left, while 8 of 12 ratios sit outside their ideal ranges.
Photo conditions
The photo is well lit from the front with a dark backdrop and a relaxed, closed-lip expression, which suits measuring. The head sits close to level and square, though a slight angle and the hair over the forehead can shift the upper-face reading a little.
What your PSL score means
Your PSL score is the single number at the top of your PSL rating. A PSL rating runs from 0 to 8, and 4 is average. A higher PSL score means more of your measured ratios sit close to their target ranges. It does not rank you against other people, and a PSL score is not a percentile.
| PSL rating | Men | Women | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7.75–8 | True Adam | True Eve | The ceiling of the scale. No real face is expected to reach it. |
| 6.75–7.75 | Gigachad | Gigastacy | Top-model range: every measured ratio strong and in balance. Women: Top-model range: every measured ratio close to its ideal and in balance. |
| 5.75–6.75 | Chad | Stacy | Rare facial harmony with few weak points. Women: Rare facial harmony, with few ratios far from their ideal. |
| 5.25–5.75 | Chadlite | Stacylite | Clearly attractive proportions, one step below Chad. Women: Clearly attractive proportions, one step below Stacy. |
| 4.5–5.25 | High-tier normie | High-tier becky | Above average: good proportions with one or two softer areas. Women: Above average: good proportions, with one or two ratios further from their ideal. |
| 3.5–4.5 | Mid-tier normie | Mid-tier becky | Average. Most faces land here. |
| 2.5–3.5 | Low-tier normie | Low-tier becky | A little below average, usually because one or two ratios pull the score down. |
| 0–2.5 | Sub3 | Sub3 | Below average on the measured ratios. A tilted head or harsh light can also push a photo down here. |
Each range runs up to, but not including, the next one, and the top range includes 8. Read the tier names as shorthand for a range of scores, not as a label for a person. A PSL score of 4 is the midpoint of this PSL chart.
How four categories add up to your PSL rating
The tool scores four categories from 0 to 10. Your PSL rating is a weighted mean of those scores, scaled so that a perfect 10 in every category lands on 8. The PSL calculator shows the exact formula.
Harmony
Counts for 35% of your PSL rating for men and 40% for women.
How the proportions fit together: facial thirds, midface ratio, eye spacing and symmetry.
Measured for your PSL rating by: Facial symmetry, Facial thirds, Midface ratio, Eye separation ratio.
Dimorphism
Counts for 20% of your PSL rating for men and 20% for women.
The women's version calls this category Femininity.
How masculine or feminine the structure reads: face width-to-height ratio and jaw-to-cheekbone width.
Measured for your PSL rating by: Face width-to-height ratio (fWHR), Jaw-to-cheekbone ratio.
Angularity
Counts for 20% of your PSL rating for men and 10% for women.
The women's version calls this category Contour.
How defined the jaw and chin are: jaw taper, chin height and lower-third balance.
Measured for your PSL rating by: Chin-to-philtrum ratio, Jaw frontal angle.
Features
Counts for 25% of your PSL rating for men and 30% for women.
The eyes, nose and lips: canthal tilt, eye shape, nose width and mouth width.
Measured for your PSL rating by: Canthal tilt, Eye shape (height to width), Nose width to eye gap, Mouth-to-nose width.
Read the four scores before the total: one weak category with three strong ones tells a different story from the same PSL score spread evenly, and a point in a heavier category moves the PSL rating further.
Why your PSL score changes between photos
Your face stays the same between two selfies, but the measurements do not. Anything that shifts a landmark by a few pixels moves the ratios, and the PSL rating follows. The tool adds no randomness to your PSL rating: same photo, same score, on the same device, every time.
- A camera held above or below eye level changes the jaw and the facial thirds, and your PSL rating with them.
- A small turn or tilt of the head makes the two halves of the face look different.
- A smile changes the mouth width and the corners of the eyes, so it can move your PSL rating too.
- Hard shadows, glasses and hair hide the points the tool looks for.
If a PSL rating looks off, check the photo against the checklist in the PSL test section before you read anything into the number.
How to take the PSL test
The PSL test measures proportions, so a photo that bends them gives a misleading PSL rating. Set the shot up first:
- Use a photo of your own face, and confirm in the tool that you are 18 or older.
- Face the camera straight on, with your eyes level with the lens.
- Hold the phone at arm's length or further, because a close selfie stretches the nose and the middle of the face.
- Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed.
- Use even light from the front, such as a window, with no hard shadows across the face.
- Turn off filters, beauty mode and portrait mode, which reshape the face before the PSL test sees it.
- Pull your hair back off your forehead and take your glasses off.
Then take the test:
- Choose Male or Female in the PSL rating tool above.
- Tick the box to say you are 18 or older and the photo shows your own face.
- Press Upload a photo, or Take a selfie to use your camera.
- Wait a few seconds while your browser measures the face for your PSL rating. Nothing is uploaded.
- Read your PSL rating, your tier and the four category scores.
The PSL scale test works the same way on a selfie and on a photo a friend took of you, as long as the face is straight on and well lit.

The PSL test for men and women
The PSL test comes in a men's and a women's version. The scale is the same, but each version has its own category names and weights. The ideal range differs for 11 of the 12 measurements, and so do the tier names. Pick the version you want your PSL rating measured against before you add a photo, or switch on the result screen without adding it again. One careful photo is enough for a PSL rating.

How your PSL rating is measured, and where your photo goes
The tool finds 478 landmarks on your face, such as the corners of the eyes and the edge of the jaw, using MediaPipe's face landmark model, which your browser downloads from this site the first time. From those points it measures 12 ratios, compares each one with a target range and combines the results into your PSL rating.
Nothing about it is hidden: the 12 ratios, their ideal ranges and the formula are listed on the PSL calculator page, so you can check how any PSL rating was reached.
All of this runs in your browser. The photo is never uploaded, no server receives it, and you need no account or email address, so we cannot see, keep or share the photo behind your PSL rating.
What a PSL rating cannot tell you
A PSL rating comes from the geometry of a single photo, so the same person can get a different PSL rating from each one. The tool does not measure skin, hair, height, style or personality, and it cannot see how someone moves, speaks or treats other people. Take your PSL rating as an estimate for fun and self-improvement, not as a verdict on anyone's worth.
